Buses in downtown Ridgeview spend an average of 18 percent of their running time stopped at traffic signals. Transit signal priority allows an approaching bus that is behind schedule to request a brief green extension or early green, without interrupting pedestrian crossing time.
Scope
- Replacement of signal controllers and cabinets at 41 intersections
- Installation of transit signal priority detection for Ridge Transit Routes 1, 6, 9, and 17
- Accessible pedestrian signals with locator tones at all project intersections
- Fiber communications linking signals to the City of Ridgeview Traffic Management Center
The Board awarded the construction contract to Meridian Signal Systems, Inc. on September 10, 2026. Notice to proceed is expected in November 2026, pending execution of the contract and submittal of bonds and insurance.
