RIDGEVIEW — The NRTA Board of Directors on September 10 awarded a $6,842,300 construction contract to Meridian Signal Systems, Inc. for the Downtown Transit Signal Priority project. Six bids were received; Meridian was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
The project will replace signal equipment at 41 intersections and allow Ridge Transit buses on four routes to request a brief green signal extension when running late. Every project intersection will also receive accessible pedestrian signals with audible and vibrotactile indications.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2027 and be complete by the end of 2027. Most work will take place overnight to limit traffic impacts.
